Advice to new aidpage users

Greetings Newcomers!

Aidpage Team has put together a page just for newcomers, but as with any large forum site I know that even I did not find things right away and just wanted to add to the ease of use of Aidpage.

Namaste-Anora

Profile Basic Information: It is important for the ease of other users that you fill out your profile. Aidpage will not ask you for your personal information, but there is a spot for your city, state (country). Fill this in so that when people are doing searches to aid you they have a better idea of where to start. My own advise is to at least give a workable user name or at least a first name or nick name. It makes it easier to speak with those online. This is not speak for others, this is just what I've noticed in years of online forum activity. Using the name such as "Sally needs help" is far easier to manage in responses than "Mad as fox in a hen house", if you take my meaning.

Profile Picture:The second thing I recommend, and again this is my own humble opinion and not that of aidpage or other users is to post a picture. Online it is common to see avatar's other then our own picture when on websites. We know from studies done in communication studies that people are more likely to help another human being if they look them in the eyes. On a site where the entire premise is "help", a picture speaks volumes that we might not otherwise be able to send with just our words.

Profile Biography: This is not as ominous as it seems. A brief explanation about why you are on Aidpage, your needs, wants, and a bit about yourself can add a great deal to the inter-relations between others. It allows someone to view you as not just a random name on a webpage, but as an invidual. You've now personalized the experience not only for yourself but for another.

Get Involved: Even if you are here because you need to assistance get involved. Try to put up one helpful link in your blog each time that you log in, and comment on at least one other person's request. There is no requirement for participation at Aidpage, this is simply my own humble advice. When you give, you get.

Posting Links: I often times forget this myself, but use the link icon in the tool bar to post links to websites. Long website links do not wrap and make it impossible for another to view. The best way to do this is to type the name of the article or website, highlight the entire name, click the link button in the tool tray (it looks like a small chain), and paste your link into the box.

Keywords: Posting keywords or phrases below each of your blogs will help others to find your particular blog in a search. I typically type the entire name of the organization I am mentioning in one box, and then follow it up with keywords that pertain to the organization. A good way to get these keywords if you do not know what to use is to look at the website itself. If you type your organization into a google search you will get keywords that post to the google search list of links.

Add Friends: One way to get your profile looked at is to add friends. The more exposure your page has to others the more likely your need will be seen.

About gastudent

I am a Junior in college with an Education major and I just need help! I am working my way through school and I'm trying my best to stay on the straight and narrow and do this the legit way! I have 2 yrs left in school with over 15k in student loans already, PLUS I was recently laid off because my employer said they felt like so many people were in need of jobs so they would prefer to not have to work around anyone's school availability. (I only needed to leave 30mins early two days a week) Because I don't have any kids (I thought I was doing the right thing), I can't find any assistance. The rent and light bill is due and I have no where else to turn.

About struggling mom of five

To whom it may concern ,
I would greatly apreciate any guidance you can offer me on any resources that may help. I currently work 60 to 80 hours a week at a job i have had for 12 years. I am applying for foodstamps ,child support ,and medical assistance. I am far behind on my bills, have little money for food and have no money to pay my rent. I have searched the web for grants and rent assistance and found nothing but scams. Any help you offer would be sure to put me in a better position than im in now.I was with the father of my children for 11 years and never thought i would be on my own. I am not an irresponsible person I would have prepared myself. I spent most of my life investing in my family and when he left he took most of what i had invested with him. I dont expect to get rich quick from donations but even advice will help.

thank you for your time and patience

badponyproductions

About badponyproductions

Hello! We are Bad Pony Productions, a collection of independent film-makers/producers/directors from Scotland in the UK (various ages and levels of expertise) who have already come together prior to business startup on a limited budget and completed several industry recognised short films, music videos and promo videos. We recently completed production of an hour long pilot for a new crime drama series we hope to distribute/release in 2009. The pilot was completed on a low/no budget with the good will and belief of the cast, crew and several local businesses who sponsored their time/goods/services. A promo is at the moment available online. The drama is called "Ninety Eight Percent" and stars some of the freshest faces in Scotland, portraying larger than life realistic characters unlike television has seen before.

We have recently launched ourselves officially as a trading company (offering video services to clients in Scotland) and recently recieved a generous £1,000 start up fund from a local organisation. We were also recently awarded another £500 by a local Business Agency on the strength of our Business Plan in a Dragon's Den pitching competition. We have also enjoyed a lot of high profile industry success, and lots of press and media coverage on the strength of our new ideas and new creative work.

Aside from the independent productions we are looking to develop further (including the "Ninety Eight Percent" project as a long running returning series fior television) we are seeking funding to develop a unique television and film masterclass for kids (specially those from deprived areas and those living with disabilities in our community and across Scotland). We would also like to attract corporate sponsorship to several individual film projects and one off productions.

We need a further £10,000 of start up funds for equipment costs in order to be self sufficent, and another £20,000 - £30,000 to begin funding individual projects. We are not asking for handouts for no return here, we have various "options" up for discussion including shares in the company and the various projects; for instance co-producers/collaborators etc are also up for discussion.

We would also bascially like to find out what sort of grants/funds etc are out there for new businesses with pioneering new ideas.

For details of our work please Google "Bad Pony Productions" for our main website, and examples of our work. Feedback is appreciated on this, and any seriously interested parties should make contact via Aidpage. Further details of any collaboration is available on request along with our business proposals and press details and examples of acclaim and kudos from previous projects.

Thanks in advance!

The Bad Pony Production Team :)
